Winner: Kaldewei wins Home & Trend Award 2011 for Conoflat, its flush-to-floor shower tray, once again proving its pioneering spirit in design
Ahlen, August 2011. – The name of the family company Kaldewei says more than any other when it comes to visionary design spirit and a special understanding of discerning bathroom design. With over 67 prizes to date, Kaldewei has won more awards than most other bathroom manufacturers in the world. The “Conoflat” shower tray is particular proof of this. Not only has it established itself as a design object in a very short period of time, but it has also become the public’s favourite. On 26 August 2011, the Kaldewei shower received the Home & Trend Award 2011, its fifth design award to date, which is decided by consumer vote. “Conoflat” appealed for its above-average performance in the categories design, innovation, product benefits, ergonomics and ecology. Furthermore, “Conoflat” is one of three Kaldewei products to be nominated for the prestigious German Design Award 2012.
The modern bathroom is becoming more homely – which means it now has to fulfil more aesthetic requirements as well as functional ones. In addition to factors such as comfort, safety and sustainability, an attractive and individual design is now also a key design criterion in the bathroom. As the European market leader for baths and shower trays, Kaldewei has helped shape this trend – and since 1975 has been working with internationally renowned design offices such as Sottsass Associati (Milan) and Phoenix Design (Stuttgart / Tokyo). Sottsass Associati also designed the “Conoflat” shower. The extremely flat, flush-to-floor shower integrates smoothly in the bathroom architecture, while the central outflow with the square cover in the same colour as the tray acts as a characteristic design element. It combines stability and comfort underfoot with a visual aesthetic that emphasises the elegant appearance of the shower. Like all Kaldewei baths and shower trays, the “Conoflat” is made of precious 3.5 mm Kaldewei steel enamel which, unlike tiled showers, appeals for its continuous durable surface and so is extremely easy to look after.
“Coordinated Colours” for a feeling of naturalness and originality
The “Coordinated Colours” colour range in which “Conoflat” is available has been increased by five nature-inspired “Indian Summer Colours” to a total of 12 shades to offer room for classic as well as trendy room concepts, for instance in combination with floors in wood or natural stone. The matt appearance and unique haptics of the Coordinated Colours exude a pleasant feeling of naturalness and originality.
