THE VILLA OF JOHANN AND LENA KÖNIG

The popular Berlin gallery owner couple, as stylish as always, have opted for washbasins and a bathtub made of high-quality steel enamel.

Berlin is a metropolis of modern architecture. Restored Wilhelminian style villas stand alongside Bauhaus concepts such as the “White City”, designed and planned by Otto Rudolf Salvisberg. The Swiss architect worked in Germany between 1905 and 1930 and created trend-setting buildings in Berlin in line with the Bauhaus idea. This also resulted in the creation of a small residential area in the Wilmersdorf district. The gallery owner Johann König and his wife, art historian Lena König, recently chose one of the two directorate houses as their new private home in the capital. In the course of the renovation, the bathrooms were equipped with enamelled bathroom solutions from KALDEWEI. Two washbasins and a bathtub from the Puro series as well as the elegant Conoflat shower surface were used.

Back in 2017, the villa in Wilmersdorf was redesigned for its current use as a family house. The transformations made over the decades have been lovingly removed and the ground floor adapted. With KALDEWEI in the bathroom, the Königs have deliberately opted for modern and contemporary fittings. “In addition to the sustainability aspect and the service life of the steel-enamel material, we find the clear design language of the products and their functionality particularly exciting,” explains Lena König.
