German Design Award 2016 for KALDEWEI washbasins

Ahlen, October 2015. – Premium manufacturer KALDEWEI has been honoured once more for its new washbasin segment, winning the prestigious German Design Award 2016. An impressive three KALDEWEI washbasin series were awarded a “Special Mention” by the German Design Council. The Puro, Cono and Centro washbasins made of superior KALDEWEI steel enamel impressed the international expert jury with exquisite quality in design and material.

“KALDEWEI stands for innovative design of timeless elegance, driven by the highest standards of functionality and material. It is for good reason that the KALDEWEI products and branding are nominated time and again for the German Design Award, and once more this year were singled out for several awards by our panel of experts,” says Andrej Kupetz, General Manager of the German Design Council. With the new washbasins made of steel enamel expanding its product portfolio this year, KALDEWEI has opened up yet another unique chapter in bathroom design – completing the set of successful KALDEWEI shower surfaces and bathtubs, the washbasins echo the characteristic design features of their matching counterparts so the whole bathroom can now be styled with a coherent design vocabulary in one material and quality. The German Design Award 2016 is the second award this year to honour KALDEWEI for its new washbasin segment and follows the Iconic Awards, which recognised the washbasins for their unique design quality with a stunning four awards.

German Design Award
Launched in 2012 the German Design Award is the international premium prize of the German Design Council, which was established in 1953 to support companies in efficiently communicating design expertise. The German Design Award recognises top-quality submissions from product and communication design, all of which are – in their own way – pioneering in the international design landscape.
